So "in the know" that I'm completely clueless
I went to Target yesterday to kill some time over lunch hour and wandered through the music section. I looked at some of the stuff on the racks and I swear I didn't recognize any of the proclaimed up and comers. Who are these people? Breaking Benjamin? Clutch? Chimaira? Coheed & Cambria ... and hell, that's just the A's through the C's. Who are these people? Are they any good? Am I missing anything or is it just more commercial tripe? Anyone? Bueller?

Can't help you there ... my music of choice these days is mostly an aging 80's rockabilly guy covering swing music. :) I'm pathetically out of touch.

Target is all about commercial tripe.

Newer bands:
Arsis, Asesino, Behemoth, Belphegor, Goatwhore are good if you haven't checked them out. Nile has a new CD coming out.

Belphegor is okay ... some outrageously awesome album covers but that seemed about all they had going for them above everybody else. I've listened to two Nile albums and wasn't terribly impressed. They were early albums though, so maybe theit newer stuff has something more to offer.

Goatwhore though ... now that's a damn good black metal band. I haven't had a chance to pick up their new album yet, but I have Funeral Dirge for a Rotting Sun and it's very good.

I'll have to check out those sound bytes you posted ... and I suspected as much with the crap at Target. I may still go listen to them, if for no other reason that to be able to say I've heard them, and young folks will still think I'm cool.
